In 1918 Austria became a republic but in 1938 it got annexed by Germany. After WW II occupied by the Allies till 1955.

                                                                Three-quarter of Austria is covered by the Alps. With his 3.739 meters is the Glosglockner the highest top.

                                                                  There is plenty of water due to important rivers as the Danub and the Inn. The Neusiedler Lake is the biggest lake.
