Panama is a good destination for those who like island hopping. Iguana, Coiba, Barro Colorado, Colon are just a few of them with a wide range of animals, amphibians and  sea fauna.

In Panama live 7 indigenous tribes with their specific traditions and languages. Between these the Ngobe Bugle (biggest tribe), the Emberá along the Chagres river and the Kuna people on the San Blas islands.

Panama city is an amalgam of three cities. There are the ruines of the original settlement, destroyed by the pirate Morgan, there is de old 17th century town Casco Viejo and the modern business district.

Statistics of the United Nations reveal that this land comes on the 4th place concerning diversity of plant species. Interesting places are Playa Cambutal, de Bahia de los delfines, Isla Coiba and Isla Colon.

Nearly  30 percent of his surface is reserved for protected nature and National parks. Thee Chagres river, El Valle, Cerro Punta are just a few ecological examples. 

The fortress and the old Custom building of  Portobelo are listed on the World Heritage. Also Fort San Lorenzo and the old district of Panama City, Casco Viejo, are protected aereas.

The Panama canal is about 81 km long en crosses the hole country. It connects the Caribian Sea with the  Great Oceaan. On 15.08.1914 the first ship passed this canal. Average price per passage: 45.000 $.
